Lonneke is the co-founder of The Make. She has over 30 years of experience in fashion. As an insider in the industry she knows like no other that things have to be done differently. So that's one of her goals. Creating beautiful garments for a timeless beloved wardrobe.
What she loves
"Nature, Flowers, Clothes, jewellery, shoes, bags, and even night gowns. I especially love: nice insides, subtle details and handmade stuff like paintings, quilts, vases, pots, flower arrangements, handmade purses or tablecloths." I like watching people, and how they dress and combine things. Almost forgot to mention how much I like food as well. And even there, if food is presented on a nice plate, it seems to taste better…!"
Lonneke about style
"If you are dressed well, you feel well. If I have an appointment I will always make sure that my outfit will fit the occasion. It makes me feel confident and in control. It can be the “little things” that make a big difference! Personally I prefer little things doing “the trick”.
Combining vintage versus new
For me Inez de la Fressange is the perfect example of a woman who knows the do’s en don'ts in wearing and combining clothes, colors, textures, shoes and jewellery. Designer clothes, in combination with jeans. Vintage versus new and femininity versus masculinity. Always perfect, never over the top, and very stylish.
High quality garments
When you wear high quality garments, made with love, it gives you a kind of feeling that is hard to catch in words. It lifts you up and brings you to another level. It would be great if we could give that feeling to lots of other women all over the world We make high quality garments for an accessible price. Our designs are timeless, seasonless and ageless. We believe age has nothing to do with taste or style. It is important for saving the planet that we all think twice before buying a new item again. Therefore I like the quote: “ If you are going to have less things, they have to be great things”.
